FARMVILLE, Va. (March 6, 2022) – Longwood University (LU) used a second quarter run to down the Howard University women's lacrosse team, 21-10.
With the loss, HU fell to 1-4 overall while the Lancers earned their first win of the season (1-3).
Third-year Bison
Quai Skeete-Ridley (New Carrolton, Md.) led the way with a team-high five goals and four draw controls.
HU got on the board early with a pair of goals from Skeete-Ridley, 2-0, but the Lancers responded with two goals of their own and tied the contest with 9:38 remaining in the first quarter.

Taylor Matthews (Tampa, Fla.) scored back-to-back goals and put the Bison back ahead, 4-2, but Longwood closed the quarter with two more goals and tied the match after one, 4-4.
Howard reclaimed the upper hand in the second, thanks to goals from Skeete-Ridley and fellow classmate
Josie Mallory (Charlottesville, Va.), 6-4, but LU closed out the half with eight unanswered goals to take a 12-6 lead into intermission.
From that point, the Bison were unable to recover. Longwood outscored HU after intermission, 9-4.
Matthews and Mallory had three goals apiece while graduate
Lailah Robey (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) added a pair of assists in the loss.
For the Lancers, Nicole Fordyce tallied nine points (six goals and three assists) in the victory.
After spring break (March 15), Howard returns to Greene Stadium to face Kennesaw State. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
