WASHINGTON (March 5, 2022) – Howard University women's tennis team fell to crosstown rival George Washington (GW), 4-0, at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center.
With the loss, HU dropped to .500 (2-2) on the season while the Colonials improved to 3-5 overall.
In doubles competition, GW won a pair of matches by identical scores, 6-2, while taking the early 1-0 match lead.
In singles play, rookie
Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) served as the club's No. 1 singles player where she lost a tough, three-set match to the Colonials' Stella Wieseman (1-6,6-4,4-6).
Fellow classmate
Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and third-year Bison
Hana El Sherif (Cairo, Egypt) also forced a third deciding set, but both contests ended unfinished due to GW earning four match points.
Sunday (March 6), HU takes on nearby George Mason. Match time is set for 11 a.m.
