HAMPTON, Va. (March 26, 2022) – Howard University men's tennis team took down rival Hampton in the latest chapter of the Battle of the Real HU, defeating the Pirates, 5-2, at Neilson-Screen Stadium in Hampton, Va.
With the win, Howard improved to 4-5 on the season while the Pirates dropped to 2-12 overall.
HU took the early match lead after winning two-out-of-three in doubles play. Freshmen
Tory Bailey (Los Angeles) and
Marcel Dawson (Midland, Ga.) served as the club's top doubles team, knocking off Hampton's Ange-Kevin Koua and Fayzullokh Mavlyudov, 6-4.
In singles competition, Howard won four-out-of-six contests.

Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) each won their respective matches in three sets while Dawson and senior
Kyle Martin (Kingston, Jamaica) secured singles victories in straight sets.
Next weekend, the men resume MEAC play. Friday (April 1), Howard squares off against Coppin State. The next day (April 2), HU battles Morgan State on Senior Day. Both days are scheduled for 2 p.m. at Banneker Recreation Center.
