CARY, N.C. (March 19, 2022) – Howard University men's tennis team suffered its first setback in league play, falling to South Carolina State (SCSU), 6-1, at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Round Up in Cary, N.C.
With the loss, HU dropped to 3-5 (2-1 MEAC) while the Bulldogs (7-6) remain unbeaten in league play (3-0).
Rookie
Tory Bailey (Los Angeles) was the lone Bison to pickup a victory, defeating SCSU's Aissa Benchakroun in three sets (6-3, 1-6, 7-6).
The other five singles matches were decided in straight sets, favoring the Bulldogs.
In doubles competition, South Carolina State won all three contests.
On March 26, Howard goes on the road to meet Hampton in the Battle of the Real HU. Match time is to be determined. The next day (March 27), HU returns to The District to face Bucknell. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at the Banneker Recreation Center.
