CARY, N.C. (March 17, 2022) – Howard University women's tennis team earned its first league win of the season, defeating Norfolk State (NSU), 5-2, at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Round Up in Cary, N.C.
 
With the victory, HU improved 3-3 (1-0 MEAC) on the season while NSU fell to 1-6 (0-1 MEAC) overall.
 
Howard took the early 1-0 match lead after winning all three doubles matches.
 
The young Bison took four-out-of-six contests in singles play, led by rookies 
Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.) and 
Nadia Pegram (Naples, Fla.). Both Bison won their matches in three sets.
 
Junior 
Alexandra Blackwell (Austin, Texas) knocked off NSU's Zada McMorris in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) while fellow classmate 
Hana El Sherif (Cairo, Egypt) took down the Spartans' Andrea Barcenas (6-1, 6-2).
 
HU continues its MEAC Round Up Friday (March 18) against MEAC perennial South Carolina State. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
