WASHINGTON (February 26, 2022) – Howard University men's tennis team grabbed its first win of the season, taking down Loyola (Md.), 5-1, at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's (WTEF) East Capitol Campus in Southeast D.C.
With the victory, HU improved to 1-2 on the young season while the Greyhounds suffered their first loss.
Howard swept doubles play, led by sophomore
Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) and freshman
Daniel Dunac (Washington) serving as the squad's No. 1 doubles team. The duo knocked off Loyola's Skyler Gates and George Cavo, 6-3.
In singles competition, Cadeau and Dunac, along with newcomers
Tory Bailey (Los Angeles) and
Marcel Dawson (Midland, Ga.) won their matches in straight sets, respectively.
On March 8, HU returns to action to face crosstown rival Georgetown. Match time is slated for 6 p.m. at the Woodmont Country Club.
