WASHINGTON (February 19, 2022) – Howard University women's basketball team turned the tables in their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) rematch against Morgan State (MSU), defeating the Lady Bears, 81-63, inside Burr Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
The Bison advanced to a 14-8 overall record, and 8-2 in conference play.
Five Bison reached double figures in scoring, led by sophomore guard
Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) with a team-leading 16 points on 50-percent (5-of-10) shooting from the floor.
With a bit of a slow start, the Bison closed the first quarter trailing the Bears, 15-17.
Howard turned up the heat offensively in the second period, shooting over 57-percent (8-of-14) while the Lady Bears shot only 29-percent (5-of-17). HU entered halftime with a five-point lead, 33-28, setting the tone for a dominant second half.
HU outscored the Morgan State in the third quarter, 22-18, and held a nine-point advantage going into the fourth, 55-46.
In the fourth, Howard shot an incredible 67-percent (10-of-15) and rolled to their fourth consecutive victory.
Reigning MEAC Player of the Week
Anzhane' Hutton (Dallas) notched a double-double (14 points and 11 boards) while fellow Texas native
Krislyn Marsh (Houston) added 12 points off the bench.
Junior
Iyanna Warren (Accokeek, Md.) finished with 11 points and five dimes while second-year Bison
Kaniyah Harris (Capital Heights, Md.) netted 10 points in the win.
For MSU (13-7, 7-3 MEAC), they were held to nearly 34-percent (23-of-68). Charlene Shepherd had a game-high 21 points in the loss.

The Bison will continue MEAC play at Burr Gymnasium against Coppin State Monday (Feb. 21). Tipoff at 4 p.m. and the game's theme is "Black Out."
