NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 30, 2022) – Howard University men's basketball redshirt junior
Steve Settle, III (Glenarden, Md.) scored a team-high 14 points but no other player reached double figures as the Bison were dealt an 86-40 loss to Yale University in a nonconference game at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
The Bison (4-6) played again without the services of three of their key players, including team-leading scorer sophomore guard
Elijah Hawkins (Washington) for the second straight game due to coach's decision.
Howard was outplayed in every area as the Bulldogs (7-1) made easy work of the Bison, bolting out a 47-23 lead and never looking back. Yale connected on 50-percent from the field, including 18-of-41 from three-point range. The Bison, meanwhile, missed 34 shots from the field and were outrebounded, 44-27.
Senior forward
Kobe Dickson (Holcomb, Kan.) added eight points for Howard.
Yale was led by August Mahoney, who paced four players in double figures with 18 points.
Howard will attempt to get back on the winning side when it travels to Hampton, Va., to take on rival Hampton University Saturday (Dec. 3) at 5 p.m.
