Howard Women Lose in Consolation Bracket

Miami, FL (November 27, 2022) - Brooklynn Fort-Davis scored a team-high 12 points and Destiny Howell added 11 but Howard University had no answers for Drake as it fell, 97-60, in the consolation game of the FIU Thanksgiving Invitational at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
A senior forward, Fort-Davis finished with six rebounds while junior guard Kaiya Creek again came off the bench and contributed eight points and six rebounds in a losing effort.
The undermanned Bison, who have been playing with some key injuries, were outscored 40-25 in bench points and finished shooting 21-of-84 from the field against the Bulldogs, who shot almost 50-percent.
"Drake is a very good team despite their losses," said Howard Head Coach Ty Grace following the game. "However, we are not defending well at all. We are not taking pride in our defense. We have given up too many points these past few games, and it becomes more egregious when we aren't scoring the ball effectively."

The Bison (1-5) again fell behind early in the first quarter but it a 25-point scoring binge in the second quarter that all but put the game away against the balanced scoring of Drake (3-2), which placed five players in double figures.
Grace added, "We have to get back in the gym and really decide the type of team we want to be defensively. Everyone needs to step up individually and collectively, so we can be better as a team."
There is little time to languish in today's setback as the Bison return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 30 when they travel across town to take on American University at 7 pm in Bender Arena.

Concluded Grace, "American will be another challenge; however, the adversity won't make us quit. We have to show up and play Howard basketball, no matter what. It's a process through the challenges."
