WASHINGTON (October 30, 2022) – Howard University men's soccer team came up short in the home finale against Fairleigh Dickinson (FDU), 2-1, at Greene Stadium.
For the first 30 minutes, both squads were unable to find the back of the net until FDU's Fallou Tounkara found Jamie Barbero and put the Knights ahead, 1-0.
Moments later, Tounkara was on the receiving end of assists from Jeronmo Leguizamon and Jayd Hamdaoua and gave the Knights a 2-0 advantage at the break.
Despite being outshot 10-1 in the first period, Howard refused to go away.
At the 52-minute mark, junior
Mason Christian (Fulton, Md.) got HU on the board, thanks to an assist from second-year Bison
Bryson Baker (Ellicott City, Md.), 2-1.
Howard continued to battle through the end but were unable to complete the comeback.
Goalkeepers
JR Gawel (St. Mary's Md.) and
Albert Mercer (Upper Marlboro, Md.) each had two saves in the loss.
Thursday (Nov. 3), Howard closes out the regular season at Saint Francis (Pa.). Match time is set for 3 p.m.
