LORETTA, Pa. (November 3, 2022) - Howard men's soccer ended the regular season finale in a 1-1 draw with the Saint Francis Red Flash (6-5-4, 3-2-3 NEC) Thursday evening. The stalemate moves the Bison's record to 2-11-2 (1-5-2 NEC) this season.
Holding each other to four shots in the 1st half, the two went into halftime in a 0-0 draw.
In the 57th minute, junior Nathan Leggett (Apex, N.C.) opened the scoring when he converted a penalty kick into a 1-0 advantage for Howard.
Eager to equalize the score, SFU would get another shot off before senior Alexios Rodriguez (Silver Spring, Md.) tied the game 1-1 in the 68th minute with his first collegiate goal.
Kicking up the tenacity, the Bison posted five more shots throughout the half while holding the Red Flash to three scoring opportunities.
First-year goalie JR Gawel (St. Mary's, Md.) recorded five saves through 90 minutes of play bringing his career high to 70 saves in a single season.
Standout Bryson Baker (Ellicott City, Md.) led the team offensively ending the season with six goals while North Carolina native Nathan Leggett finished the season with a team leading three assists.
The Bison finish out the season as the No. 8 seed in conference.
