FAIRFIELD, Conn. (October 23, 2022) – Sacred Heart (SHU) scored a pair of goals with less than 10 minutes remaining to down the Howard University men's soccer team, 3-1.
With the setback, HU dropped to 1-3-1 in conference play (2-9-1 overall) while the Pioneers moved to 5-7-1 (3-2-1 NEC).
SHU's Olliver Persson scored on an assist from Asa Moskowitz (16') and gave the Pioneers a 1-0 early lead.
With halftime looming, second-year Bison forward
Bryson Baker (Ellicott City, Md.) registered his sixth goal of the season (41'), thanks to assist from junior forward
Nathan Leggett (Apex, N.C.), and tied the contest at intermission, 1-1.
Both squads were deadlocked after the break until Zach Lorenz (80') found the back of the cage to put SHU back ahead, 2-1.
With time dwindling, Sacred Heart's Rob Taylor IV (85') added an insurance goal to put the game out of reach.

JR Gawel (St. Mary's, Md.) produced five saves in the loss.
Howard closes out its home slate with a pair of home conference matchups, beginning Thursday (Oct. 27) against Merrimack. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
