NORFOLK, Va. (January 18, 2022) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference revealed its men's basketball weekly honors where Howard University freshman point guard
Elijah Hawkins (Washington) claimed his fourth rookie of the week honor. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.
The D.C. product averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game against Norfolk State and Notre Dame.
Saturday (Jan. 15), Hawkins finished with 10 points and three assists versus the Spartans. Two days later (Jan. 17), he posted 12 points, five dimes and three steals in front of a nationally televised audience on FOX against the Fighting Irish.
This season, Hawkins tops the league with 6.5 assists per game, which ranks seventh in the nation.

Kyle Foster (Hampton, Va.) and
Steve Settle, III (Glenarden, Md.) garnered honorable mention.
Norfolk State senior guard Joe Bryant, Jr. won MEAC Player of the Week while Morgan State's De'Torrion Ware and Coppin State's Nendah Tarke shared the conference's Defensive Player of the Week award.
Saturday (Jan. 22), HU resumes league play at Morgan State. Tipoff at 4 p.m. inside the Hill Field House.
