WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Howard University football teams will face DMV foe Maryland on Saturday, Sept. 11, for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium and showcased on the Big Ten Network and WHUR radio.

The Bison dropped their first game of the season versus Richmond, 34-14. Hunter Jarett was the workhorse for Howard, tallying 128 all-purpose yards(93 rushings, 35 receiving) in his first game as a Bison.
HU's offense also struck big, recording six passes over 15 yards, highlighted by a Quinton Williams 67-yard strike to Christian Carter to cut Richmond lead 23-14 right before halftime. In addition, to the long passes, the Bison rushed five times over ten yards. Ian Wheeler scored on a 24-yard touchdown, and Hunter had a Howard long 30-yard run.
Howard struggled on third down, converting 1-of-11.
Quinton Williams passed for a career-high 226 yards, completing 17-of-27, completing a career-long 67-yard completion.

Last Game, August 31, 2019: Maryland defeated Howard, 79-0. The Bison struggled in all three phases, recording 68 offensive yards.
About Howard: After last week's loss, Howard is 2-7 in season openers dating back to 2011. The two wins coming against Morehouse (9/1/2012) and UNLV (9/2/2018) one of the biggest upsets in NCAA football history.
Before the season, six Bison were selected to the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Preseason All-Conference Team.

Howard will stay in the district to host the first-ever Truth & Service Classic versus Hampton University. Howard University teamed up with Audi Feild and Event D.C.
Audi Field announced during the summer a strategic partnership with Howard University and Events DC to host the university's annual Truth and Service Classic football game. This season's game, which will be held on September 18, will become the first-ever college football game played at the 20,000-seat venue in downtown Washington, D.C., the home of Major League Soccer club D.C. United.
The new relationship between Audi Field and Howard University will see the Truth and Service Classic, which will operate as a home game for the Bison, launch this year with a long-term goal of an annual showcase game taking place at Audi Field under the Truth and Service Classic moniker. The first edition will feature the 96th meeting of the historic rivalry between Howard University and Hampton University, with future opponents set to be named at the beginning of each collegiate football season.
