WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ: Howard's Duncan Dunkwu wasted no time knocking off the rust, recording a career-high three goals to earn a 3-3 draw with Monmouth in the season opener at Hesse Field, in the first game since November 13, 2019, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Monmouth's Liam McGregor scored the first goal to open the 2021 campaign take an early 1-0 lead in the seventh minute.
Dunkwu caught fire, scoring the following three goals to give Howard a 3-1 lead.
Monmouth's Luke McBeth scored the final two goals on penalty kicks to tie the game, 3-3.
Emory Simon recorded two of his eight saves in overtime to seal the tie.
Dunkwu paced the offense, recording four shots on goals connecting on three. Bryson Baker recorded five shots.
