Kennedy Lewis resumed the 2020-21 Senior Spotlight series with a grad edition, featuring diver
Christian Nickolas (Brentwood, Calif.).
Q: What is your favorite part about diving?
A: My favorite part about diving is learning new skills while being a part of the Howard University swimming and diving team.
Q: How did you get started in swimming?
A: After retiring from being a gymnast for 13 years, I transferred those skill sets to the sport of diving.
Q: What kept you motivated?
A: The three things that kept me motivated were my family, teammates and competitive nature.
Q: If you were not competing in diving, what other sport would you do?
A: If I was not competing in diving, I would have continued in my family's footsteps and pursued Taekwondo.
Q: Who is your favorite athlete? How have they motivated you?
A: My favorite athlete is
Simone Biles (Olympic Medalist-Gymnastics) because of her resiliency and self-drive to compete against no one but herself.
Q: What's your most memorable Howard experience?
A: My most memorable Howard experiences are any moments involving team bonding.
Q: What are your plans post-graduation?
A: I will be attending UC (University of California) Hastings School of Law this fall.
Q: What or who will you miss at Howard?
A: I will miss my coaches, teammates and the school's atmosphere.
Q: What advice would you give future Bison?
A: My advice for future Bison would be to appreciate every moment and take advantage of every opportunity Howard gives you.
Q: Who would you like to thank?
A: I would like to thank my mom, coaches and friends for always believing and supporting me every step of the way.
