WASHINGTON (April 2, 2021) – Howard University men's tennis team dropped a tough match against Norfolk State (NSU) on Senior Day at The Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's East Capitol Campus in SE D.C.
Sophomore
Romani Mayers (Bridgetown, Barbados) led the Bison with victories in singles and doubles play.
This season, Mayers remains unbeaten in singles play after taking down NSU's Ivan Ivars in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 10-8).
Mayers joined newcomer
Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) in doubles competition where they edged out the Spartans' Andres Alcarez and Santiago Rendon, 7-6.
Freshman
Pierce Westbrook (New Orleans) grabbed his first collegiate win, defeating Norfolk State's Ibrahim Abbas in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 10-8).

Nicholas Askew and the team acknowledged lone senior
Roger Lyn (Kingston, Jamaica) for his hard work and dedication to the program.
Lyn entered the contest serving as the squad's No. 1 singles player. The Jamaica native battled, but fell to Alcarez in straight sets (4-6, 3-6).
The following weekend (April 16-17), both teams travel up the Beltway to meet Loyola (Md.) and conference foe Coppin State. Friday's contest (April 16) versus the Greyhounds start at 3 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. match time for Saturday's (April 17) clash with the Eagles.
