BALTIMORE (April 17, 2021) – Howard University men's tennis team defeated conference foe Coppin State (CSU), 5-2, at the CSU Tennis Complex. With the win, HU clinched a berth to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament in Norfolk, Va.

Howard grabbed the upper hand in doubles competition, winning two-out-of-three against the Eagles.

Senior Roger Lyn (Kingston, Jamaica) and sophomore Romani Mayers (Bridgetown, Barbados) represented HU as the squad's top doubles team where they blanked CSU's Christopher Green and Dean Waterman, 6-0.

Freshmen duo Gabe Knowles (Wind Gap, Pa.) and Justin Cadeau (West Orange, N.J.) remain unbeaten in doubles play, knocking off Coppin State's Vansh Kapoor and Sergiu Medesan, 6-1.

In singles competition, Cadeau and Lyn won their respective matches in straight sets while newcomer Pierce Westbrook (New Orleans) picked up another conference victory over the Green in consecutive sets (6-4, 6-3).
