WASHINGTON (March 18, 2021) – Howard University women's volleyball team fell in four against Morgan State (14-25, 22-25, 25-15, 19-25) inside Burr Gymnasium.
Junior
Kailyn Williams (Arlington, Texas) led the way with 12 kills and eight digs while redshirt junior
Marcelle Butler (Canton, Ga.) added 11 kills and seven digs in the loss.
After Morgan State (MSU) took game one, 14-25, both squads went back-and-forth in the second frame. Howard held a slim advantage late in game two, 22-21, but MSU finished the set scoring four consecutive points while taking a commanding 2-0 match lead.
Howard (2-9, 1-8 MEAC) never trailed in set three, eclipsing a match-best .355 hitting percentage with 14 kills, and sliced the match deficit in half, 2-1.
In game four, the Lady Bears regained momentum and won set four, 19-25.
Junior setter
Milexa Cardona (Kissimmee, Fla.) recorded a double-double (38 assists and 10 digs) and three service aces.
Defensively, freshman
Amari Patterson (Waukegan, Ill.) registered a match-high 15 digs in a losing effort.
For MSU (4-3, 3-2 MEAC), Tylar Roberson (14 kills and 10 digs) and Jada Bivins (15 assists and 10 digs) each produced double-doubles in the win.
Both clubs square off Friday (March 19) at 6 p.m., inside Burr Gymnasium.
