ELON, N.C. -- The Howard University women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought contest versus Elon Monday night, Nov. 15, 60-44.
Howard could not hold on to a 25-18 third-quarter lead with 7:33 left in the third quarter. Elon went on a 14-5 run, taking a two-point lead with 10-minutes left in regulation. After a two-minute drought to open up the fourth quarter, the Phoneix hit a long shot to spark a 9-0 run to give Elon a 41-30 lead. Howard sank three consecutive free throws and a lay-up to cut the lead, 41-35 with 5:42 left. Elon used an 18-9 run to escape with a 60-44 win.
How it Happen
- Both squads struggled shooting from the floor in the first half. Howard hit 7-of-28 (25%) from the floor, while Elon shot 5-of-31 (16.1%).
- The Bison bench outscored Phoenix, 9-0 in the first half.
- Brooklynn Fort-Davis recorded six rebounds.
- Howard's shooting struggle continued into the third quarter shooting 22.2 percent from the floor.
- Elon took advantage of Howard's 20 turnovers, scoring 19 points.
