NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (October 3, 2021) – Howard University men's soccer team suffered a setback on the road at Central Connecticut State (CCSU), 3-0, in league play.
With the loss, HU dropped to 1-6-2 (0-3 NEC) while the Blue Devils moved to 2-7 (2-1 NEC) on the season.
On the afternoon, Howard was limited to only three off target shots while CCSU had 15 attempts overall.
More than halfway through the first half, Erik Hjertsson scored and put the Blue Devils ahead at halftime, 1-0.
After intermission, CCSU extended its advantage, thanks to a goal from Kyle Halehale, 2-0.
Central Connecticut State's Birk Martinsen added an insurance goal at the 75' mark.
Sophomore
Benjamin Hoesli (Bern, Switzerland) served as the team's starting goalkeeper, finishing with a pair of saves in the loss.
Wednesday (Oct. 6), the Bison take on UMBC in Baltimore. Match time is 7 p.m.
