WASHINGTON (October 24, 2021) – Howard University men's soccer team tied with Sacred Heart, 1-1, in a physical bout at Greene Stadium.
The contest witnessed 27 fouls, including seven yellow cards.
SHU outshot the Bison, 18-9, but HU grabbed the upper hand after intermission.
Both squads were scoreless after 61 minutes of action until sophomore
Sammy Oladeji (Arlington, Texas) scored off a crafty move to give HU a 1-0 advantage at the 62' mark.
With time dwindling, Howard had control until SHU's Segundo Navarro tied the match, thanks to an assist from Etienne Murugarren, to force OT.
In OT, neither squad was able to find the back of the net.
Senior
Emery Simon (Elkhart, Ind.) registered a match-high five saves in the tie.
On Halloween (Oct. 31), Howard closes out its road schedule at Fairleigh Dickinson. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
