NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (October 14, 2021) – Howard University women's soccer team fell on the road at Central Connecticut State (CCSU) in a Northeast Conference showdown, 3-1.
 
With the loss, HU dropped to 4-5-1 (3-3 NEC) while the Blue Devils improved to 8-4 (5-2 NEC) overall.
 
Moments after a scoreless first period, HU struck first after senior 
Mikayla Johnson (Waldorf, Md.) scored her first goal of the season, thanks to an assist from classmate 
Victoria Thornton (Plainfield, Ill.), 1-0.
 
At the 58-minute mark, CCSU's CC Rosario tied the contest at one apiece.
 
Nearly five minutes later, Central Connecticut State's Roma McLaughlin put the Blue Devils ahead, 2-1, at the 64-minute mark.
 
CCSU's Erica Bardes found Abbey Chase for the Blue Devil's third goal after intermission to put the contest away.
 
Central Connecticut State outshot the Bison, 17-7.
 
Graduate goalkeeper 
Alayah Hightower (Mitchellville, Md.) recorded three saves in a losing effort.
 
On Oct. 18, the Bison face Navy in The District at Greene Stadium. Match time is scheduled at 7 p.m.
