FAIRFIELD, Conn. (October 10, 2021) – Howard University women's soccer team fell short on the road at Sacred Heart (SHU), 2-1.
With the setback HU dropped to 4-4-1 (3-2-1 NEC) while the Pioneers moved to 5-6-1 (3-3 NEC) on the season.
Despite SHU outshooting the Bison, 16-11, Howard was on the attack throughout with eight corner kick opportunities.
At the 27-minute mark, Sacred Heart's Desiree Crawford scored on an unassisted goal and put the Pioneers ahead, 1-0.
With less than five minutes remaining before intermission, SHU's Kelly Medeiros added another unassisted goal and gave the Pioneers a 2-0 halftime advantage.

Melea Earley (Whittier, Calif.) found senior
Thalia Boucher (Toronto, Canada) and cut the margin to one at the 50-minute mark, 2-1.
Despite cutting into the lead, HU was unable to find the back of the net again to force OT.
Earley took a match-high four shots while sophomore goalkeeper
Jaida Hendricks (Waldorf, Md.) made her first collegiate start, finishing with six saves.
Howard closes out its three-match road trip in New Britain, Conn., at Central Connecticut State (Oct. 14). Thursday's clash is set for 4 p.m. on NEC Front Row.
