WASHINGTON (September 24, 2020) – Hailing from Syracuse, N.Y.,
Ashley Lawrence was a four-year member of the Howard University women's lacrosse team (2007-11), competing as a defender for the Bison.
In her four years, she played over 55 matches while racking up 87 ground balls, 68 total points, 53 goals and 15 assists. During her junior campaign, the New York native had her best season, producing 38 ground balls, 30 total points, 22 goals and eight assists under
Jessica Morgan.
In 2012, she graduated from The Mecca with a bachelor's degree in physical education. After HU, Lawrence continued her education at Kaplan University where she earned a master's degree in higher education.
Lawrence returned home where she became a youth advocate for the hillside program and an educator for the Syracuse City School District. Alongside her father, she began her coaching career at her high school alma mater, Corcoran H.S., serving as head coach for the girl's junior varsity lacrosse program.
With this experience, Lawrence moved back to the DMV area where she became a teacher for D.C. Public Schools and girl's varsity head coach at High Point H.S. in Beltsville, Md. She finds this opportunity rewarding because the institution is one of the only majority Hispanic girl's varsity lacrosse programs in the Prince George's County area over the past three years.
Throughout her tenure at High Point H.S., she has also acted as head coach for both the girl's basketball program and the varsity cheer program.
In her spare time, Ashley spends quality time with her family.
