WASHINGTON (March 7, 2020) – Howard University Department of Athletics partnered with E & J Gallo Winery in giving student-athletes an opportunity to learn proper etiquette during dining interview settings. The event took place Tuesday evening (Feb. 25) in D.C.
"One of our goals is ensuring our student-athletes have experiences that lend to their ability to be well-rounded individuals," said Howard Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Support Services
Morgan Fisher. "This event provided our students the opportunity to not only learn a practical skillset, applicable in a majority of interview and professional settings. They also were able to network with a potential employer."
Gallo Winery, headquartered in Modesto, Calif., primarily targeted students majoring in communication and business. The two-hour presentation provided student-athletes a full-course meal while demonstrating the art of networking, dining etiquette and delivering meaningful conversations.
One student participant stated, "I thought the dinner was a great experience and I was able to learn new information to help me with my future business endeavors"
The non-mandatory event required student-athletes to submit their resumes and RSVP beforehand for possible employment opportunities.
