Davis Earns All-MEAC Honors

South Florida native finishes third in the short hurdles

LANDOVER, Md. (February 29, 2020) – Howard University sophomore hurdler Kameron Davis (Miami) left his mark at the 2020 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships with a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. For his efforts, the South Florida native earned All-MEAC Third Team.
 
Davis ran an 8.14 in the finals, behind only Coppin State's Aaron Lewis (7.91) and North Carolina A&T State's Robert Miller (8.12).
 
Fellow classmate and South Florida native Jermanie Byrd (Miami) just missed the podium with a fourth-place finish, clocking in at 8.19.
 
Second-year runner Gavin Williams competed in a pair of events Saturday, fifth (4:23.76) and seventh (9:02.78), respectively, in the men's 1-mile run and 3k run.
 
In the field, freshman thrower Ian Wheeler (Houston) came up short in reaching the podium, catapulting 3.82 meters (12'06.25") in the pole vault.
 
Newcomer Nnamdi Olebara (Bowie, Md.) took sixth overall in the men's shot put, tossing 14.60 meters (47'11").
 
HU takes a few weeks off until they gear up for the outdoor season, starting March 19-21 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
