WASHINGTON (February 29, 2020) – Howard University men's tennis team fell at home against North Carolina Central (NCCU), 0-7, inside The Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's East Capitol Campus. With the setback, HU dropped to 0-4 on the young season.
Senior
Cole Gittens (New York) led the way in singles competition, going three sets against NCCU's Christos Dagklis. The New York product won game one, 6-3, but dropped games two, 1-6, and three, 4-10.
Newcomer
Romani Mayers (Bridgetown, Barbados) served as the squad's No. 1 where he made North Carolina Central's Thanos Spyropoulos earn his straight set win (5-7, 4-6).
In doubles, Gittens and junior
Kyle Martin (Kingston, Jamaica) fell 3-6 to NCCU's Amit Baran and Miles Clark.
Sunday (March 1), the Bison travel to Annapolis, Md., where the Navy Midshipmen await. First serve is slated for 10 a.m.
