Cole Gittens (New York) and freshman
Romani Mayers (Bridgetown, Barbados) grabbed their first doubles victory in the team's road loss at Navy (12-5), 0-7, inside the Tose Family Tennis Center.
Gittens and Mayers edged out Navy's Christian Pumpelly and Gavin Seagraves in a 7-6 bout. Despite their success, the Mids were able to score a match point with victories in the other two doubles.
Mayers and Gittens represented HU in the No. 1 and No. 3 slots, respectively, where they were swept in identical scores, (1-6, 1-6).
Four-year Bison
Sagar Raju (South Pasadena, Calif.) pushed Navy's Conner O'Brien to the limit in set one, 5-7, but could not keep the momentum going in game two (0-6).
With the setback, HU dropped to 0-5 on the season.
HU returns to the court during Spring Break (March 16-20) in Orlando, Fla. Upcoming opponents to be announced later.
