WASHINGTON (December 17, 2020) – Ricky Dodson was a high school All-American at Wilkes Central H.S. in Wilkesboro, N.C., where he was named Conference Player of the Year twice (1986 & 1987). He became the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,847 points in three years during his high school career, a record that remained unbroken for 20 years and prompted retiring his jersey.
With his many accomplishments, Dodson selected Howard University where he continued his playing career under coach
A.B. Williamson for three seasons (1987-90). In his final year (1990-91), the North Carolina native played under coach
Alfred "Butch" Beard.
After graduating from The Mecca, in 1994, he started his government security career at the Department of State in the Secret Service Division under the direction of
Madeleine Albright (1997-2001), followed by
Colin Powell (2001-05).
Since 2004, Dodson has been under the government direction of Homeland Security and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Today, Dodson is employed as a Government Contractor in the security field. His latest role marks 26 years in the security industry.
In 1988, Dodson met his college sweetheart and future wife, Lorita. Eight years later (1996), they got married and raised three children, Quinton (27), Justin (22) and Mayla (17).
Dodson and his family reside in Bowie, Md.
