WASHINGTON (November 5, 2020) – Hailing from the DMV (Camp Springs, Md.),
Keon Hill was a four-year member of the Howard University men's basketball team (2012-16) where he led the squad in assists during the 2013-14 season. In his final two years, he was named co-captain.
In his collegiate career, Hill played 97 contests for the Bison.
In 2016, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and furthered his education at Howard by obtaining a master's degree from the School of Psychology and Counseling Services.
During this master's program, he interned at Ron Brown High School and Meridian Elementary School for over 500 hours of hands on training. At the same time, Hill was selected to serve in Accra, Ghana with Howard's Alternative Spring Break (ASB), an experience that would inspire the rest of his philanthropic career.
The training that Hill underwent empowered him to develop a cutting edge approach to educational excellence, a strategy which has aided him in his current role as principal at New Chapel Christian Academy (NCCA) in Camp Springs, Maryland.
NCCA strives to nurture students into young, educated disciples for Christ. Hill is an adamant believer of taking a holistic approach to child development, seeking to simultaneously address the physical, emotional, relational, intellectual, and spiritual aspects of a child's life.
Hill's commitment to student success, coupled with a strong belief of instilling the power of "dreaming big," has been illustrated throughout his tenure not only at NCCA, but in his community as well.
Currently, he is the CEO/Founder of DreamBigGlobal (DBG), an organization that provides educational counseling, coaching and consulting programs for youth, adults, families, athletes and executives. In 2018, DBG hosted a community shoe drive that gathered 350 pairs of shoes and donated them to a local shelter in Annapolis, Maryland.
In his experience with ASB, Hill decided to host a community fundraiser event through DBG once he returned home and the event was a success. Over 150 books/electronic devices were collected to donate to Pram Elementary School in Accra, Ghana.
Along with these community events, DBG has an annual free event entitled "Dream Talk" where the event involves a panel of young African-American future leaders that share their dreams, visions and obstacles while encouraging others to reach their goals.
After years of walking across the yard at Howard University and being surrounded by greatness on a consistent basis, Hill has no doubt that the programs offer a visual representation of black excellence while playing a vital role in uplifting our communities.
Standing on a strong foundation and his time at The Mecca, he strives to live by the motto, "Dream Big, Work Hard, Stay Focused, and keep God first."
