WASHINGTON (January 9, 2020) – VolleyballMag.com revealed its under 40 coaching hotshots where Howard University assistant coach Ciara Jones was among those recognized throughout the country. The announcement came Monday.
 
The list consists of coaches under the age of 40 from NCAA Division I women's volleyball programs, NCAA Division I and II men's volleyball programs and all NCAA beach volleyball programs.
 
In her second season under head coach Shaun Kupferberg, Jones continues to be instrumental in recruiting new talent while developing student-athletes on and off the court.
 
Recently, the program won its fifth consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Title while reaching the NCAA Tourney for the fifth straight year.
 
Since her arrival, HU has seen five Bison earn MEAC postseason honors, including Tamia Dockery winning 2018 MEAC Player of the Year and Tamar Wells (Apopka, Fla.) claiming 2019 MEAC Rookie of the Year. Dockery also was named 2018 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention.
 
In that same timeframe, eight Bison were named to the MEAC Volleyball All-Academic Team, including Indira Dandridge (Miami), Jurnee Tipton (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and Fola Wilson (Minneapolis) twice.
 
Jones is a Marquette graduate where, in 2011, she led the team to its first NCAA tournament appearance. During her time with the Golden Eagles, she was co-captain of the volleyball team, an AVCA All-American and a Big East First Team All-American. 
 
In 2018, she was inducted into the "M Club", Marquette Athletic Department Hall of Fame.
