ITHACA, N.Y. (September 4, 2026) – Howard University women's volleyball team fell to Cornell Friday night in straight sets (25-23, 25-13, 25-18).
Reigning MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Rookie of the Week freshman outside hitter
Addison Buckner (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) led the Bison with a team-best 11 kills.
Both squads went back-and-forth in the opening frame. Junior middle blocker
Tiana Stubbs (Fredericksburg, Va.) delivered a kill to give the Bison a slim 20-19 advantage, but Cornell rallied to outscore HU down the stretch to win the set, 25-23.
Howard held the upper hand early in game two, but Big Red capitalized on multiple hitting errors to take set two, 25-13, and commanding 2-0 match lead.
Down, but not out, HU refused to go away without a fight.

From there, Big Red regained the momentum with six straight points, 16-11, and never looked back to win the set, 25-18.

Camryn Shelton added 10 digs (team-high) in the loss.
Cornell earned its first win of the season, led by Mackenzie Parsons with 10 kills, nine digs and four blocks in the victory.
Saturday (Sept. 5), HU (0-4) closes out the weekend against UAlbany. Match time is slated for 3 p.m.
