BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Howard University men's basketball team second-half struggles continued as they faltered to the Morgan State Bears 58-68 Saturday afternoon, in Hill Field House.
The Bison began the contest on an 8-4 run when the Bears went on a 12-8 run over six minutes to tie the game at 16, during the run Howard turn the ball over five times with 9:30 left in the first half.
Over the final nine minutes, both squads offenses struggled to find the basket shooting for a combined 6-of-26 from the floor. Howard did close out the first half on a 10-7 run to take a 26-23 lead into intermission.
Howard continued to slug it out to a 38-38 tie with 12:30 left in regulations.
Morgan regained the lead with a pair of free throws to take a 43-38 lead and never looked back. The Bison fell 68-58.
Kyle Foster paced the Bison of the bench recording a game-high 15 points,
Charles Williams and
Khalil Robinson recorded 12 points. Cousins led Howard with nine rebounds.
After holding the Bears to 25 percent shooting in the first half, Morgan State caught fire in the second half shooting 59 percent. Howard averaged 40 percent (22-of-55). MSU held the advantage on rebounds (45-32), turnovers (15-13).
