WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Howard's
Kyle Foster sank two shots from beyond the arc to bring the Bison within 10-points with two-minutes remaining in a late-game rally that fell short to the Yale University Bulldogs on Monday in Burr Gymnasium.
Howard concluded their non-conference slate with its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day -- Celebration of Excellence game versus Ivy League foe Yale. The matchup is the first-ever between the two institutions.
The Bison put the pressure on early, running out to a 9-4 lead, hitting their first four shots, and connecting from long range in the first three minutes of the contest.
Yale responded with a 7-0 run over the next four minutes to take an 11-9 lead with 14:38 left in the first half, when Foster struck from long range to stop the bleeding and regain a 12-11 lead with 13:48 left.
The Bison and Bulldogs traded jabs and the lead over the next six minutes when Yale landed a long-range jumper as the play clock expired to take a 34-21 lead with 6:41 left in the first half.
Yale rode that momentum to a 13 point lead into intermission.
The Bulldogs continued to extend the lead, leading by 21 points with 4:47 left in regulation, when the Bison connected on four consecutive long balls, and two free throws to trim the lead to 10 at the 2:22 mark.
Yale held on late to escape with the 89-75 win to improve (13-4), Howard fell to (2-18). The Bison concluded their non-conference slate with a record of 2-13.
Foster led the charge of the bench recording a career-high 19 points.
Charles Williams (16), Wayne Bristol Jr. (14),
Nate Garvey (11) joined in the double-figure output.
Howard scored a season-high 14 points off of turnovers and connected on ten three-pointers.
The Bison shot 42 percent (27-of-64) from the floor.
Charles "CJ" Williams continues to climb the MEAC all-time scoring list surpassing Coppin State's Reggie Holmes for second place.

Howard returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play at home versus Florida A&M University Rattlers. FAMU is coming off a 66-58 victory over North Carolina Central Monday afternoon at the Al Lawson Center. The Rattlers are 5-12 overall and 3-3 MEAC. Tip-off against the Rattlers is set for 4 p.m.
