Box Score 2 WASHINGTON (August 30, 2019) – Howard University Women's Volleyball opened its season with a split in the annual D.C. Challenge, hosted by George Washington. HU swept Hartford, 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-20), but fell to crosstown rival American in four sets (16-25, 25-18, 17-25, 16-25).
In the first match, Howard controlled through despite Hartford making late runs in each set. In her Bison debut, junior outside hitter
Myca Mitchell (Clovis, Calif.) recorded a double-double with 12 digs and 11 kills. Newcomer
Macy Witt-Nobles (Rosharon, Texas) added 10 kills while producing a .471 hitting percentage in the victory.
In the nightcap, Witt-Nobles had a team-leading 12 kills and five digs while fellow classmate setter
Semira Blair (Fort Worth, Texas) earned a double-double, posting 21 assists and 14 digs in a losing effort.
Howard (1-1) ends the weekend with a date against crosstown rival George Washington. First-serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
