BALTIMORE - Howard men's tennis fell to Morgan State, 4-1, on Saturday. The Bison escaped a shutout. In the doubles,
Cole Gittens and
Sagar Raju tied the Bears' Oguzhan and Nihit Rawal, 6-6.
Roger Lyn and
Karim Shokeir lost the first doubles, 6-4. The Bison met defeat in the No. 3 doubles with
Devaughn Blackburn and
Kyle Martin taking a 6-3 loss against Serhii Kharchev and Arjun Ramakrishnan.
The first singles set went to a tiebreaker with Lyn and Kharchev. Lyn was narrowly defeated, 3-2 in the third bout.
In the No. 2 singles, Gittens lost to Rawal, 6-4, 6-3.
Shokeir fell to Ceylan in the No. 3 singles.
Singles No. 4 was unfinished between Kyle martin and Sebastian Lopez.
Blackburn and Gupta split the fifth set and in the No. 5 singles Raju won by default.
The Bears improved to 9-6 overall and 1-0 with their first conference win of the season.
The Bison now stand at 1-11 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Howard will host their final regular season game at home on April 14 at 1 p.m. against the Richmond Spiders.
