WASHINGTON (April 12, 2019) – Howard University women's lacrosse dropped its home match, 20-4, to Stetson inside Greene Stadium.
Sophomore
Jillian Jones (Fresno, Calif.) led the way, scoring three times in the loss.
After the Hatters took an early 2-0 advantage, Jones put HU on the board at the 27:10 mark, 2-1.
Jones struck again and sliced Stetson's lead, 5-2, with more 22 minutes before intermission.
After halftime, Jones and fellow classmate
Lailah Robey (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) found the back on the net, but Stetson finished the match scoring five unanswered goals.
Robey won three draw controls, along with a goal. Senior
Lauryn Smith (Philadelphia) scooped up a match-high four ground balls in a losing effort.
Defensively, freshman
Andrea Fievre (Snellville, Ga.) had a career-high 17 saves in the loss.
For Stetson (3-9, 2-2 ASUN), Saige Gidzinski, Riley Reagan and Marina Rotella each had four goals in the victory.
Sunday (April 14), the Bison (0-9, 0-3 ASUN) travel to Kent, Ohio where the Kent State (KSU) Golden Flashes await. Match time is slated for 11 a.m.
