WASHINGTON - In women's doubles,
Christina Joynes and
Nicole Hutchison dominated the match. They won, 6-1 over Brittanie Cahua and Tinashe Gwaze. In the No. 2 Doubles, Joynes paired with
Kendall Addison to defeat Precious Udofe and Shariah Dunwell. Coppin won the third doubles by walkover.
The men were also successful, getting their first win of the season. In doubles,
Cole Gittens and
Sagar Raju defeated Prabh Bal and Henrique Sada, 6-2.
Devaughn Blackburn and
Kyle Martin dominated their set over Zaipo Oula and Quincy Pettis, 6-1.
The women's singles were a highlight as well. In the first set,
Nicole Hutchison beat Brittanie Cahua, 6-2, 6-0.
Christina Joynes was victorious in the third flight over Shariah Dunwell, 6-0, 6-2.
Aria Ragas soared over Precious Udofe, 6-1, 6-1.
The number six singles had no Howard player which allowed Coppin's Olivia Wallace to win by walkover. The fifth flight was unfinished between
Dominique Jackson and Ajla Hrnjic.
For the men, Gittens powered over Sam Scala-McNeil, 6-3, 7-4. Martin won 6-3, 6-1.
Karim Shokeir outlasted Sada, 7-5, 6-1.
Lyn's opponent Jorge Rey Rodriquez retired, giving Lyn the win, 3-2. Raju led 4-0 in an unfinished set.
The Bison will celebrate their Senior Day when they host Longwood University on Sunday, March 24 at 1 p.m.
