LYNCHBURG, Va. (February 2, 2019) – Howard University men's & women's track & field squads shined at the Liberty Flames Invite, hosted by Liberty University. The eight-team event took place in Lynchburg, Va.
Senior
Tariq Fullerton (Kingston, Jamaica) and junior
Oluchi Ike (Upper Marlboro, Md.) headlined the day, becoming the latest Bison to make the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Championships in Landover.
Fullerton ran a personal best (4:22.09) in the men's mile run while placing seventh overall.
Ike punched her ticket with a 56.81 mark in the women's 400-meter run, which gave her third in the event. Furthermore, the Maryland native set a new personal best while qualifying for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championships in Boston.

Makenli Raspberry (Houston) and
Jessica Wright (Durham, N.C.) claimed the top spot in the 4x400 relay.
Other notable performance on the women's side included sophomore
Jessika Gbai (Philadelphia) winning the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 24.54.
For the men, senior
Korey Lombard (Antioch, Calif.) and newcomer
Corintheans Payne (Apoka, Fla.) each competed in the 200-meter dash where Lombard took ninth overall with a 22.25 time while Payne fell just shy of qualifying for the MEAC Indoor Championships.

Howard remains in Virginia when they compete in the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Winter Relays. The two-day event (Feb. 8-9) takes place in Lexington, Va.
