LEWISBURG, Pa. (February 27, 2019) – Howard University women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener at Bucknell, 23-0.
Bucknell (1-3) outshot HU, 31-9, and caused 13 Bison turnovers.
Bucknell scored 15 goals before intermission, and then followed up with eight more in the second half.
Sophomore
Jillian Jones (Fresno, Calif.) took a team-leading four shots while fellow classmate
Lailah Robey (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) had three opportunities.
Robey also had a match-high seven draw controls, followed by freshman
Sydney Saunders (Baltimore) with five.
Newcomer
Andrea Fievre (Snellville, Ga.) caused two turnovers and scooped up two ground balls in the loss.
Bucknell's Sarah Monteleone and Tace Sutherland paced the way, racking up a team-high three goals apiece in the victory.
On March 6, Howard goes to nearby American for a crosstown showdown. Match time is slated for 3 p.m.
