LYNCHBURG, Va. (February 22, 2019) – Howard University sophomore
William Speakman Smith II (Jacksonville, Fla.) set a new school record in the men's 100 Breaststroke on Day Three of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships.
The second-year swimmer surpassed his previous mark (56.84) set last year with a 56.61 time in the prelims.
Freshman
Miguel Davis, Jr. (Prince George's County, Md.) also had a strong showing in the 100 Breast, recording the third-fastest time in school history (56.79).
In the 400 IM, junior
Noah Nicholas (Atlanta) and sophomore
Jon Bendana (Bowie, Md.) had outstanding performances where they finished top 10 all-time in program history. Bendana's 4:17.06 and Nicholas's 4:17.12 are the second and third best, respectively.
Senior
Alexander Barnes (Rockledge, Fla.) produced the third-fastest in the men's 100 Butterfly (50.00) while sophomore
Farion Cooper II posted the fifth-best in the 100 Backstroke (53.08).

Kegan Ford (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago) teamed up for the men's 400 medley relay where they set the fifth-best time in Bison history (3:30.80).
Other notable Bison is senior
Nicholas Haughton (Kingston, Jamaica) posting the school's 10
th-fastest mark in the 200 Free.
Currently, the Bison remain in sixth place with only one day remaining.
