NORFOLK, Va. (December 17, 2019) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its women's basketball weekly honors where Howard University senior guard
Sarah Edmond (Freeport, N.Y.) took home a share of the league's top award. The announcement came Tuesday.
For the second time this season, Edmond earned Co-MEAC Player of the Week after leading the Bison to a pair of victories versus Niagara (Dec. 14) and at East Carolina (Dec. 16). The New York native averaged 21 points on 58-percent (14-of-24) shooting from the floor, including 54-percent (7-of-13) from behind the arc, in the two-game span.
Saturday (Dec. 14), Edmond posted a season-best 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 5-of-6 from downtown, against the Purple Eagles. Two nights later (Dec. 16), she filled the stat sheet, finishing with a game-high 17 points, nine boards, four assists and four steals in the road win at East Carolina.
North Carolina A&T State's senior Le'on Hill earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Week honors while Morgan State's senior Chelsea Mitchell shared the other half of MEAC Player of the Week with Edmond. There was no MEAC Rookie of the Week recipient this week.
