HOOVER, Ala. (October 6, 2019) – Howard University women's soccer team scored three second half goals to knock off Prairie View A&M (PVAM), 3-0, and stay perfect in league play at the Hoover Met Complex in Hoover, Ala.
With the victory, HU improves to 7-2 (4-0 SWAC) on the season while pushing their conference winning streak to 12, dating back to September 2018.

Despite being outshot, 14-12, senior
Alayah Hightower (Largo, Md.) and the Bison defense kept Prairie View A&M off the board. The Maryland native registered a match-leading six saves while producing her four consecutive shutout win.
"Alayah [Hightower] was terrific," said Leiba on his senior goalkeeper. "[She] made timely saves to help earn her team the victory."
After a scoreless first half, sophomore forward
Kenya Saunders (Ontario, Canada) notched her second goal on the year and gave HU a 1-0 advantage at the 64-minute mark.
Third-year forward
Elexa Pierson (Kansas City) delivered her first-career goal on a breakaway and doubled the Bison's lead, 2-0.
Roughly three minutes later, Saunders found junior forward
Aleeya Sawyer (Lincolnshire, Ill.) on a header to seal the deal, 3-0.
"We saw some terrific goals from a well balanced attack today," Leiba continued. "Prairie View A&M played very well, [but] I'm happy that we played more to our standard today."
PVAM's (3-7, 2-1 SWAC) Quinn Josiah recorded a team-high five saves in the loss.
Howard hits the road for their first road test of league play.
Friday (Oct. 11), the Bison travel to Pine Bluff, Ark. where Arkansas-Pine Bluff awaits. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (ET)/4 p.m. (CT).
Two days later (Oct. 13), Howard goes to Louisiana to face Grambling State. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m. (ET)/12 p.m. (CT).
