PINE BLUFF, Ark. (October 11, 2019) – Howard University women's soccer team grabbed its first road win of the season after a 2-0 victory at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (UAPB).

With the win, HU remains defeated in league play (5-0) while improving to 9-2 overall.

"We created a lot of opportunities," said Howard women's soccer head coach
Brent Leiba. "[We] need to do a better job in executing, but I'm happy with the result."

Howard kept the pressure on throughout, outshooting UAPB, 24-7.

After a scoreless first half, second-year forward
Thalia Boucher (Toronto, Canada) put HU ahead, 1-0, at the 66-minute mark, thanks to an assist from fellow classmate
Kenya Saunders (Brampton, Ontario).

With time dwindling, freshman
Kaylani Lee Green (Stafford, Va.) found sophomore
Arianna Morgan (Oklahoma City, Okla.) for an insurance goal at the 85-minute mark, 2-0.

"We played very well, especially in the second half," Leiba added. "We look forward to building off of today's game."

UAPB's Trinity Taylor produced a match-leading seven saves in the loss.

Sunday (Oct. 13), Howard wraps up the weekend at Grambling State. Match time is slated for 2 P.M. (ET)/1 p.m. (CT).
