WASHINGTON (October 31, 2019) – Howard University women's volleyball team hits the road for a pair of rematches in Baltimore.
Friday (Nov. 1), HU meets Morgan State (MSU) at 7 p.m., followed by Coppin State (CSU) Sunday (Nov. 3) afternoon at 1 p.m.

LAST TIMEOUT
Last weekend, HU had a pair of five-set thrillers inside The Burr.
The team started the weekend by winning a five-set match Friday (Oct. 25) against North Carolina Central (23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 15-13).
The Bison continued the weekend with yet another five-set match Sunday (Oct. 27) against North Carolina A&T State. The victory (25-23, 25-21, 17-25, 20-25, 15-5) left the Bison as the only undefeated team in the MEAC at 9-0.
MATCHUP PREVIEWS
HOWARD
HU (12-11, 9-0 MEAC) enters as the league's lone team unbeaten in conference play. Howard stands on top of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division with only a handful of matches remaining before the tournament (Nov. 22-24).
Recently, the MEAC revealed its women's volleyball weekly honors where Howard senior
Kira Porter (Lake Tahoe, Nev.) earned the league's top award.
MORGAN STATE
Since their last outing against the Bison, MSU (12-11, 6-4 MEAC) has found its rhythm, winning four-of-their-last five contests, including 3-1 victory over crosstown rival Coppin State. Currently, the Lady Bears sit second in the northern division with the tiebreaker over CSU.
On Oct. 8, the Bison defeated Morgan State in straight sets (28-26, 25-18, 25-23) inside Burr Gymnasium. HU recorded 12 total blocks, led by Porter with a match-high eight blocks (two solo).
COPPIN STATE
CSU (10-14, 6-4 MEAC) enters winning three-of-their-last four matches since playing Howard with their only loss coming against rival Morgan State. As of today, Coppin State holds the No. 3 slot in the northern division.
On Oct. 13, the Bison took down Coppin State in straight sets (25-22, 26-24, 25-21) inside Burr Gymnasium. Redshirt sophomore
Marcelle Butler (Canton, Ga.) led the way with a match-high 12 kills, followed by third-year outside hitter
Jurnee Tipton (Ypsilanti, Mich.) collecting 11 kills with a .350 hitting percentage.
UPCOMING SEASON
Howard returns to the Hilltop for two more rematches.
Friday (Nov. 8), HU takes on Delaware State at 6 p.m. Two days later (Nov. 10), the Bison square off against Maryland Eastern Shore. First-serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
