Howard Women’s Soccer Stays Unbeaten in SWAC Play

Thalia Boucher scores twice in the win over Mississippi Valley State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (October 18, 2019) – Sophomore midfielder Thalia Boucher (Toronto, Canada) scored a pair of goals in Howard University women's soccer victory, 3-0, over Mississippi Valley State (MVSU) at Sicard Hollow Park.
 
With the win, HU stays unbeaten in league play (7-0) with only three conference matches remaining. Additionally, the Bison earned its 10th victory of the season, which is the fifth time under head coach Brent Leiba.
 
Howard controlled the tempo throughout, more than doubling shot attempts, 17-7.
 
At the 12-minute mark, Boucher scored her first goal off an assist from junior Aleeya Sawyer (Lincolnshire, Ill.) and put HU ahead, 1-0.
 
With halftime approaching, freshman Kaylani Lee Green (Stafford, Va.) found second-year defender Kendall Macauly (Toronto, Canada) off a breakaway to double the lead, 2-0.
 
Moments after intermission, Boucher registered her sixth goal on the season, thanks to an assist from sophomore Arianna Morgan (Oklahoma City, Okla.), 3-0.
 
Defensively, senior Alayah Hightower (Largo, Md.) and the Bison continue their dominance in league play, extending its streak to seven consecutive matches without allowing a goal.
 
For MVSU (1-11-1, 0-7 SWAC), McKenzie McCarthy recorded a match-best six saves in the loss.
 
Sunday (Oct. 20), the Bison take on Alcorn State at noon (ET)/11 a.m. (CT).
