WASHINGTON (October 17, 2019) – Howard University women's volleyball team continues its five-match home stand Friday (Oct. 18) when the Norfolk State (NSU) Spartans come to town. Match time is set for 6 p.m. inside Burr Gymnasium.

Sunday (Oct. 13), the Bison took down Coppin State in straight sets (25-22, 26-24, 25-21) inside Burr Gymnasium.
Redshirt sophomore
Marcelle Butler (Canton, Ga.) led the way with a match-high 12 kills, followed by third-year outside hitter
Jurnee Tipton (Ypsilanti, Mich.) collecting 11 kills with a .350 hitting percentage.
MATCHUP PREVIEW
Friday's showdown will be the 28
th meeting between HU and NSU with the Bison leading the all-time series, 22-5, including a current 12-match winning streak versus the Spartans.
HOWARD
Currently, Howard (9-11, 6-0 MEAC) leads the MEAC Northern Division and one of two squads unbeaten in league play (Other: North Carolina A&T State). HU has a three-match cushion over Maryland Eastern Shore, Delaware State and Coppin State, in which the Bison have defeated all three teams earlier this season.
One Bison to watch is junior libero
Fola Wilson (Minneapolis), who is only three digs away from 1,000 in her collegiate career.
NORFOLK STATE
NSU (1-14, 1-5 MEAC) grabbed its first win of the season after sweeping rival Morgan State Monday (Oct. 14). Norfolk State hit a season-best .241 while limiting the Lady Bears to a .042 hitting percentage.
Senior Bojana Bolozan and freshman Myleah Carter both rank among the league leaders in their respective categories. Bolozan sits sixth in blocks (0.84) and Carter is 10
th in digs (3.60).
PROMOTIONS
Friday's promotion is Dig Pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Fans wearing pink will receive a FREE slice of pizza for showing support in the fight against breast cancer.
UPCOMING SEASON
Next weekend, HU concludes its home stand with a pair of foes from the Tar Heel state.
Friday (Oct. 25), Howard takes on North Carolina Central at 6 p.m., followed by a rematch against North Carolina A&T State Sunday (Oct. 27). First-serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
