WASHINGTON (January 26, 2019) – Howard University women's swimming & diving squad cruised to a 182-98 victory over crosstown rival Catholic on Senior Day.
Before the meet, head coach
Nicholas Askew and the program recognized its 11 seniors, including three women:
Akeyla Holley (Fort Washington, Md.),
KaSandra Kaplan (Detroit) and
Latroya Pina (Seeknok, Mass.).
Additionally, the team recognized manager Deeshai Escoffery for his hard work and dedication to the program.

Madison Freeland (Glenside, Pa.) and
Myka Thomas (Philadelphia), each had two wins on the day.
Kaplan crushed the women's 100 and 200 Butterfly, registering a season-best in the 200 Fly (2:14.21) and a 59.33 in the 100 Fly.
Pina picked up victories in the 200 Breaststroke and 200 Individual Medley. The future Olympian posted a 2:31.72 (200 Breast) and 2:19.24 (200 IM).
Freeland continued her dominance in the distance events. The Pennsylvania native won the 500 Free (5:29.74) and 1000 Free (11:19.46).
Thomas earned the top spots in the women's 100 Backstroke (1:01.02) and 100 Freestyle (55.76).
Other notable Bison with victories include junior
Leanne McMaster (Kingston, Jamaica) in the 200 Free (2:01.92), sophomore
Christian Nickolas (Brentwood, Calif.) in the 1-meter dive (220.27) and freshmen
India Jackson (Philadelphia) in the 100 Breast (1:08.00) and
Simone Outlaw (Burlington, N.J.) in the 200 Back (2:18.70).
Howard also grabbed a pair of victories in the 200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay.

On Feb. 20-23, Howard goes to Lynchburg, Va. for the 2019 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships.
