Navy Blanks @HowardMSoccer In Midweek Clash

Bison get opportunities, but unable to capitalize

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (September 5, 2018) – After more than a week away from the field, the Howard University Men's Soccer team could not dust off the rust as they were blanked by Navy, 4-0, in Annapolis, Md.

Collectively, the Bison were aggressive early on with seven shot attempts in the first half but were limited to only one shot after intermission.

Senior Victor Guirma (New Paltz, N.Y.) took a team-leading two shot attempts while Franchino Chambers (Atlanta) and Joshua Kalubyaka (Germantown, Md.) each had a shot on goal in the loss.

Moments into the match, Navy took the early advantage, thanks to a goal from Collin Armstrong, 1-0.

At the 20-minute mark, the Midshipmen's Phillip Gustafson passed the ball to Diego Manrique, who beat the keeper and gave Navy a 2-0 edge.

After halftime, Navy's momentum continued with a pair of goals from Bayne Bentley and Wyatt Millard.

Friday (Sept. 7), Coach Phillip Gyau and the Bison return home where they will square against Yale. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
