ANNAPOLIS, Md. (September 5, 2018) – After more than a week away from the field, the Howard University Men's Soccer team could not dust off the rust as they were blanked by Navy, 4-0, in Annapolis, Md.
Collectively, the Bison were aggressive early on with seven shot attempts in the first half but were limited to only one shot after intermission.
Senior
Victor Guirma (New Paltz, N.Y.) took a team-leading two shot attempts while
Franchino Chambers (Atlanta) and
Joshua Kalubyaka (Germantown, Md.) each had a shot on goal in the loss.
Moments into the match, Navy took the early advantage, thanks to a goal from Collin Armstrong, 1-0.
At the 20-minute mark, the Midshipmen's Phillip Gustafson passed the ball to Diego Manrique, who beat the keeper and gave Navy a 2-0 edge.
After halftime, Navy's momentum continued with a pair of goals from Bayne Bentley and Wyatt Millard.
Friday (Sept. 7), Coach
Phillip Gyau and the Bison return home where they will square against Yale. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
